Has your pet ever been poisoned? If you’ve ever had to
experience this with your pet, it more than likely wasn't a pleasant experience.
Often times it can be an extremely scary and stressful situation!
If you think your pet is poisoned your best bet is to call
your vet as soon as possible and if possible bring a stool sample along with
you to the vets office. Also, the ASPCA recommends putting together an
emergency first-aid kit for your bed to have readily available that you can use
after calling the vet!
The ASPCA reports that the first-aid kit should contain:
- A fresh bottle of hydrogen peroxide, 3 percent USP (to induce vomiting)
- A turkey baster, bulb syringe or large medicine syringe (to administer peroxide)
- Saline eye solution
- Artificial tear gel (to lubricate eyes after flushing)
- Mild grease-cutting dish washing liquid (for bathing an animal after skin contamination)
- Forceps (to remove stingers)
- A muzzle (to protect against fear- or excitement-induced biting)
- A can of your pet's favorite wet food
- A pet carrier
